The main thing that I have learnt is how important it is to capture each shot perfectly. When editing we discovered that some shots weren’t shot properly so therefore we had to re-do some shots. Consequently this was so very annoying because the time we used to do this could have been used more wisely in the editing process. Keeping in mind the aspect of time I learnt how time consuming the whole process is, so when I make my music video my group need to use every available time wisely so we keep a good progress and finish our video to a good standard and by the deadline. Also, it took time getting use to the filming and editing equipment , but now I have learnt the basics and experimented with the equipment and now believe I am more confident using these. I noticed that people became camera shy at the thought of having to act in front of other students. This is a major worry as our group needs someone who is reliable, confident and willing to portray a character that we create. Therefore, it is very important that we cast the right person who has all traits of a brilliant performer. Another aspect which I have learnt is that planning is necessary for success. By planning each shots action, day/time it is filmed etc it will make the making run smoothly. I think my biggest strength was giving direction to the performers and the actual filming of which both I really enjoyed. It was also nice seeing the video develop into a finish product it was liberating as I felt we all did a good job, whilst having lots of fun during it. This project has taught me about the whole process of creating a music video and aspects we need to consider for our next project, especially, the bad things, like time keeping.
